Wrestling Coach Pleads Guilty

Justin Dale Perkins, 24, Charlevoix, pleaded guilty this morning to three counts of criminal sexual conduct, fourth degree in the 33rd Circuit Court.

Perkins, who was the wrestling coach at Boyne City High School, admitted that he had engaged in sexual contact with a student who was at least 16 but less than 18 years of age, that he had used his status as an employee of the school to gain access to or to establish a relationship with the victim and that the sexual incidents occurred at the school.

Perkins resigned from his coaching position as coach the day he was charged, on July 1, 2022. He admitted that the incidents occurred between March 1, 2022 and that date.

On October 14, 2022, Perkins will be sentenced. The crimes carry a maximum penalty of two years in prison and any sentences will be served concurrently.
