Northern Michigan Regional Entity, Up North Live, TV 7 &4 and TV 29 & 8 hosted Finding a Solution: A Prescription Drug Abuse Town Hall last night at the Milliken Auditorium on the campus of Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City.

Charlevoix County Prosecuting Attorney Allen Telgenhof was one of the panelists together with Dr. Eugene Wang of Harborside Spine and Sports Center, Laurie Ames of Catholic Human Services and Jennifer Wilson of Northern Michigan Substance Abuse Services.

The event was moderated by news anchors Marc Schollett and Kristen Lowe of TV 7 &4 and Jennifer Innis of TV 29 & 8.

“It was a great event emphasizing the importance of this issue and the need for a community wide solution,” Telgenhof said.  “We need to all work together – law enforcement, physicians, treatment centers and counselors.  Addiction is a disease and we need to recognize it as such.”

The panel answered questions from the audience in attendance as well as questions via social media.  The event was streamed live on upnorthlive.com and will air Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on TV 29 & 8.
