This morning in the 33rd Circuit Court, Judge Roy C. Hayes III sentenced the following defendants as follows:
William Brandon Ferris, 37, of East Jordan was sentenced to serve 20 to 60 months in prison on a charge of malicious destruction of property greater than $1,000 but less than $20,000.
He was also sentenced to 16 to 48 months on a charge of malicious destruction of police property. The sentences will be served concurrently.
Ferris pleaded guilty on September 4 to knocking the windows out of two vehicles in the City of East Jordan, using a hatchet. When being placed under arrest, he resisted officers and kicked the side of a City of East Jordan Police car, causing a dent.
He was also ordered to pay $4,962.92 in restitution.
Kimberly Ann Hogan, 48, of Boyne City was sentenced to 24 months of probation, including 11 months in jail with five months held in abeyance on a conviction of operating while intoxicated, third offense.
Hogan admitted that she had driven her vehicle into another car while at the corner of Lake and Water Streets in downtown Boyne City, on Friday, July 24 at approximately 5:30 p.m.
She then drove away from the scene, parked and walked toward her residence where she was arrested by police. According to discussion on the record at the time of her sentencing, she had a blood alcohol level of .236, nearly three times the legal limit.
