Foray into blogging

Well, I don’t know if this is a new high or a new low.  Everyone else is doing it so why not me.  I decided to start a blog.  Not a gossipy one.  Not a controversial one.  Not an anonymous one.  One where I put my name to it – see the site address? allentelgenhof.wordpress.com.  I plan to write about whatever strikes my fancy, be it Tiger baseball, MSU football or prosecuting cases and coaching baseball in a small town in northern Michigan.

I guess it makes sense to make the first post about who I am.  I’m 50 years old, married 28 years, father of four.  Husband to Judy; dad to Ty, Ally, Will and Luke; coach to the Charlevoix Rayder baseballers; prosecutor for Charlevoix County.  Lots of titles, lots of irons in the fire.

I’m finishing my second year as Charlevoix County Prosecuting Attorney and I love my job.  I have great people who I work with and we are doing rewarding work.  It’s not just about getting the “bad guys” off the streets, it’s about standing up for victims and making sure that everyone, including those accused of crimes, is treated fairly by our system.

I’m blessed to have this job, as well as my  “side jobs” as Charlevoix High School baseball coach and broadcaster for Charlevoix sports on 1270 AM and 102.3 FM.  Those jobs give me an outlet for my love of sports and give me places to unwind while still helping the community in a small way.

On this site, I plan to write about the things that strike my fancy.  My interests, other than my family, include Charlevoix High School and Michigan State University sports, the Tigers, the Lions, Manchester United soccer, fantasy football, reality TV, news, politics, FIFA 15 for the xBox One and a whole lot of other things.

Don’t get me going on Joe Nathan or the Brad Ausmus haters.  That’s for another day…
